How my shopping habits are changing with the times

Over the last 2 to 3 years, my shopping habits have begun to really change. Looking back at a few years ago, I can remember a time when I was obsessed with fast fashion and would spend £100 every other week in Primark, coming home with hauls of new outfits, that I would inevitably wear once and then throw to the back of my wardrobe.

This came partly from an obsession with different trends and wanting to always be wearing the latest piece but also from a love of fashion and a desire to be creative with the way I dressed and expressed myself every day. However, over recent years I’ve started to think more consciously about my shopping habits and am (hopefully) making changes for the better.

The Spring 2020 ‘Must-Have’ Tee

As you all probably know by now, I’m a huge fan of filling my wardrobe with lots and lots of basics. I don’t do too much colour or print and I try my best to steer away from anything that stands out too much unless it’s for a special occasion. I like to keep my shapes basic and my colours neutral as I feel that creates quite a timeless, classic look for me and is an easier way for me to re-invent my wardrobe and get the most out of wearing things over again. Three brands you can shop for Sustainable Swimwear

How is it mid-June already?! I feel like the months are just FLYING by. I have a big birthday this August so I kind of set that as a milestone for the year in January, believing that I had all the time in the world and now it’s only two months away and I don’t know what’s happened to the last five!

As I write this, it’s pouring with rain outside and has basically been torrential for the last two weeks so it doesn’t feel like Summer in the slightest however, given that it is June and we’re in the midst of holiday season, I wanted to do a little swimwear edit for you guys and after a couple of new sustainable swimwear brands dropped into my inbox which I absolutely loved, I decided to share a more environmentally friendly edit with you this year.

Fast Fashion is nothing new. Fast Fashion has been a growing aspect of the fashion industry for many years and it’s something that I researched a lot when studying my masters in Fashion Buying. I based my dissertation on the growth of Fast Fashion as well as its effect on the cost of clothing and the decline of the textiles industry in Britain, however, that was around 4 years ago and the pull of Fast Fashion is now even more extreme as our want for constant newness continues to surge.
