Something I’m obsessed with when it comes to Winter is outerwear. In all honesty, I’m probably obsessed with jackets and coats all year round, but it’s a bit of a struggle trying to layer up in my favourite aviator when it’s 25 degrees outside. I feel like outerwear can really help to elevate any look and bring an outfit together, or can even help to hide a poor outfit choice when you need to run to the corner shop in your joggers (don’t pretend like you never do that). Fast Fashion is nothing new. Fast Fashion has been a growing aspect of the fashion industry for many years and it’s something that I researched a lot when studying my masters in Fashion Buying. I based my dissertation on the growth of Fast Fashion as well as its effect on the cost of clothing and the decline of the textiles industry in Britain, however, that was around 4 years ago and the pull of Fast Fashion is now even more extreme as our want for constant newness continues to surge. Fast Fashion has a place in all of our lives and wardrobes, but do we truly know and understand the vastness of its effects, which reach to much more than just our clothing choices each day? I’ve spoken a lot recently about new season trends, including my favourite trends for Autumn and my favourite pieces on the high street right now. One thing that remains consistent in my mind when thinking about trends, or even when thinking about adding a new piece to my wardrobe at any time of the year, is my own personal style; whether the pieces I’m looking at fit within that and how I would style them into outfits or with other items in my wardrobe.

The Perfect Autumn/Winter Midi

So a couple of months back, I wrote about the midi skirt being a key piece for last season and talked you through how I like to style it for various different occasions (you can find that here if you fancy a read). As the seasons are changing and I find myself looking to add more Autumn appropriate clothing into my wardrobe, i’ve definitely been drawn back to the midi skirt style but this time not only the skirts, but midi dresses as well.
