Mules aren’t exactly new to the fashion game, however they are big this season like never before and this is all thanks to the statement style from Bottega (yet again!). I remember a couple of years ago when the Gucci Princetowns were released and the high street went crazy for dupes in that shape and style, but even then I don’t remember mules being so on trend as they are at the moment.
The classic mule shape is a backless slipper with a pointed or round closed front, however this seasons style of choice seems to be the open toe. I feel like technically that makes them more a sandal than a mule, however we’ll roll with it for now!
Mules can be flat or heeled and I love them for their versatility. I feel if you get the right pair you can put them together with a mix of different outfits as they are a fairly understated and classic shape and style. At the moment, I can’t stop lusting over the clear vinyl variety as they don’t over power any look but still add a subtle edge and something quite unique.
I’ve got my eye on SO many so here are 12 current high street picks to get you started, although there’s a chance you have something similar in your shoe cupboard already so dig them out and get styling…
