Mothers Day Gift Guide

With Mothers Day fast approaching in the UK, I thought it would be a good idea to pull together a bit of a gift guide to help you guys shop for the main women in your lives. I’ve never been one for huge, extravagant gifts on Mothers Day as I tend to think it’s more about showing a little appreciation and love, whether that be through a small, but thoughtful gift or some time spent together, so hopefully, this post will reflect that.

I’ve tried to pull together a mixture of both physical gifts and experience ideas so there should be a range of things to suit most peoples taste. Each gift will also be linked below so you can online shop to your hearts content…

M&S pamper bag

I love everything about this pamper gift bag from Marks and Spencer. I mean, what woman doesn’t love prosecco, truffles and pamper goodies?! It’s the perfect gift when you’re unsure about what to get, as it has an amazing mix of goodies, at a really affordable price.

V&A gardening tools

Got a mum who loves gardening? Then this is the gift for her. I absolutely love the print on this little trowel and fork set and it will help make those days in the garden just that bit more beautiful. I think that if you have someone in your life with green fingers, this is such a thoughtful thing to buy and will show them that you really do pay attention to the things that they love.

Mums journal

I saw these back at Christmas time when I was browsing the web for Christmas gift ideas. You can get them for most of the people in your life, a grandparents or parents, siblings or even aunties and uncles and the idea is the person you buy it for, fills it with memories and stories from their life, for you to have as a keepsake. It’s kind of like buying yourself a gift in disguise, but the person who you buy it for initially should have just as much fun filling it with memories, as you will have when you finally get it back in years to come.

Dear Mum, from you to me: Memory Journal capturing your mother’s own amazing stories £14.99

Photo collage

I don’t know about you but I love having photographs of family and friends around my home. I feel like they are the little personal touches that make a house, a home and brighten up dull days with smiles and happy memories. I recently bought my mum a huge black and white photograph collage print, filled with photos of all of our close family and she absolutely adores it.

I use the Lalalab app to make all of my orders, which is really straight forward and quick to use. The quality of the prints is great and you can choose from so many different printing options if a collage is not really your thing.

Bloom and Wild

Flowers are obviously a go-to on Mothers Day and Bloom & Wild are absolutely the ones to go to for that. I’ve used them a few times before to send flowers to different family members and the whole process is seamless. The flowers are always beautifully packaged and fresh, and you can be confident the recipient will receive a beautiful bouquet no matter how far away you are.

Lush set

Here’s another pamper piece and this one is for the more environmentally conscious mama that loves to pamper themselves with natural goodies. I thought this ‘Blooming Beautiful’ gift box from Lush was very apt because let’s face it, aren’t mums just so beautiful all the time?! This particular box is full of bath bombs but if you want something different you can mix and match individual items instead or choose from one of the other, beautifully curated gift boxes they have available.

Lush ‘Blooming Beautiful’ Gift Box £16.00

L'occitane lavender set

I remember my mum going on about L’occitane when I was much younger and to be honest, back then I wondered what all of the hype was about. Since I’ve grown older, I 100% understand the hype and for a brand to stand the test of time through generations, is a testament to their lovely products and ethos. I think most mums struggle to get 5 minutes of calm and tranquillity in their day, so this lavender gift set will hopefully help to get them on their way to that calm state of mind a whole lot quicker.

L’occitane Calming Lavender Trio £30.50

HA Designs wallet

For the travel mad mums, this is such a lovely idea. HA Designs do some really nice pieces, but I think this personalised travel wallet is ideal because I don’t know about you but I find mums always have so many papers, receipts and documents. This little wallet means they will have one place to keep all of their travel itineraries and passports safe as well as being stylish at the same time.

HA Designs Personalised Travel Wallet £37.00

One line a day

This is the perfect gift for a new mum or maybe even a mum-to-be. The idea is they write one line a day to capture their journey as a mum, over a 5 year period which results in a lovely little memory book to look back on, helping them to remember those smaller moments they would otherwise forget.

Mum’s One Line a Day £14.99

Initial mug

Last but definitely not least, what mum doesn’t love a nice cup of tea? Cups of tea literally solve everything and mums know that better than most of us. These gorgeous monogram mugs are such a nice idea and will bring a smile to any mamas face when they sit down for that afternoon cuppa and chocolate biscuit. Who knows, maybe it’s good for disguising that afternoon tipple of prosecco as well?

Rifle Paper Co. for Anthropologie Garden Party Monogram Mug £12.00

At the start of this post, I did mention that I love to buy gift experiences as well, rather than just physical things. To be honest, experiences are probably my favourite thing to buy for peoples birthdays and for Christmas so why would Mothers Day be any different.

Afternoon tea is always a good idea and means you get to spend some time with your mum, whilst indulging your sweet tooth and necking endless cups of tea. We have been out for Mothers Day afternoon tea on numerous years, often with my lovely nan in tow but have also thrown a couple of ‘homemade’ afternoon tea treats to make it even more personal.

If you and your mum aren’t really tea and cake kind of people, you could opt for a spa day instead. A lot of spas will put on special mother and daughter treatments around Mothers Day so look out for those. Spabreaks.com is a good place to search a wide range of areas and spas all in one go.

There are so many other experiences and days out to recommend, I suppose it really depends on what you’re interested in but here are a few to help you along the way;

  • Lunch/dinner out
  • Theatre tickets
  • A girls day out in London (or any other big city)
  • Wine tasting
  • Cookery class
  • Cocktail masterclass
  • Night at the Comedy Club

Let me know what your go-to Mothers Day gift ideas are and whether you decide to pick up any of the bits above.
