H&M Conscious Exclusive

Good morning guys! I have a bit of a bonus post for you this week – I don’t usually post on a Thursday, however when an email popped into my inbox promoting this launch, I read it in absolute amazement and had to put something together straight away. This is also my 100th blog post! So what better way to celebrate than to talk to you guys about some amazing steps forward for the future of fashion?!

Today’s post is all about the brand new H&M Conscious Exclusive launch which is available from today, in selected stores and online.

Conscious Exclusive is the premium offering to H&M’s sustainable conscious collection and it is absolutely stunning. The retailers’ 8th Spring collection brings with it beautifully thought out and well-designed pieces while introducing three new sustainable, incredibly innovative materials that we mere consumers would nor could ever dream of. I, myself, am astounded at the pioneering processes behind the manufacturing of these pieces, as well as the creativity of design. The pieces work so well together as a collection, but could all equally form a part in their own completely styled looks with other items that you currently own.

So first, let’s talk about the innovative materials;

1. BLOOM™ Foam
BLOOM™ Foam is a plant-based, flexible foam used in footwear production and is made using algae biomass. To give you an idea of how this works, manufacturers take algae from overpolluted water sources and use it to produce the foam. Too many algae in freshwater can harm the environment, therefore, this fantastic process is helping us look after the planet in more ways than one.

2. Piñatex®
Did you ever think your clothes would be made from a pineapple leaf fibre? No, me neither but that’s exactly what Piñatex® is. During a pineapple harvest, the leaves would usually be discarded but now their fibres are stripped to make a sustainable, leather alternative and the leftover biomass from the leaves can be used as a fertiliser – meaning that nothing at all goes to waste.

3. Orange Fiber®
Finally, Orange Fiber® is as you might imagine, made from citrus peels. This by-product of citrus fruits starts off as a ‘silk-like’ yarn and can be blended with other fabrics to create a stunning, sustainable fabric which again reduces waste from the natural products that we already use.

If you would like to find out more about each of these incredible ideas, I’ve linked each company individually below…

The Conscious Exclusive collection has a higher price point than standard H&M pieces but is still very affordable and when you realise how much of an impact you could have on the environment by investing in the collection, rather than other things on your wishlist – it makes the higher cost all the more worthwhile.

The collection itself still makes use of fabrics such as Tencel® lyocell, organic linen and recycled polyester which I’ve spoken about before and features a lot of standout pieces to make your Spring/Summer wardrobe pop. This collection is not the way to go if you’re shopping for basics, it’s full of bright colours and prints, alternative textures, cuts and shapes but for Summer weddings, parties and holidays it’s a perfect choice! I predict a sell-out so get shopping while you can.

I have my eye on a few of the pieces below, including some gorgeous swimwear…
