The Perfect Autumn/Winter Midi

So a couple of months back, I wrote about the midi skirt being a key piece for last season and talked you through how I like to style it for various different occasions (you can find that here if you fancy a read). As the seasons are changing and I find myself looking to add more Autumn appropriate clothing into my wardrobe, i’ve definitely been drawn back to the midi skirt style but this time not only the skirts, but midi dresses as well.

I’m a huge fan of midi length clothes for so many reasons. I find the silhouette really flattering, definitely much more so than a mini or a-line skirt for me. There is still a place for shorter skirts, but I think Autumn Winter is the perfect time to pack them into the back of the wardrobe and get the longer skirts back out. I also think that midi dresses are a good way to look slightly more smart and ‘put together’ than just jeans and a nice top. My go-to at the moment is a midi dress, trainers and jacket – nice and casual but ideal for lunch out, a shopping or coffee date and everything in between.

This Zara dress is going to be a firm favourite in my wardrobe for the next few months. The second I tried it on, I absolutely fell in love and had already thought of a thousand different ways to wear it. A blazer and trainers, or leather jacket and little ankle boots – not to mention how cute it will look underneath a big, thick Winter coat and scarf combo. Can you tell how excited I am about it?!

I know this is probably slightly longer than the standard midi, but anything in between a midi and maxi goes and I actually prefer just above ankle length as it’s the most flattering length for me personally.
