There’s one item this season that’s made me THE happiest person and that’s the midi. Whether a midi skirt or a midi dress, I am obsessed with them all because the shape is so flattering and easy to wear, not to mention can be styled in so many different ways for any occasion.
I’ve seen SO many on the high street this Spring/Summer so i’m almost certain there would be one to suit your own personal style and taste. For me stripes are always a favourite print of mine so i’ll choose a striped skirt before any other style, but then there are floral, polka dot or just block colour. In terms of length i’ve seen styles that end just below the knee, mid-calf length and just above the ankle, straight hem and hanky hem so whatever the occasion, I feel like there’s a midi-skirt about somewhere for it!
The other reason I think they are ideal is because they are a perfect addition to your summer workwear wardrobe. It’s such an easy way to wear a skirt, without the worry of it being too short/inappropriate for the office.
There’s probably a few key pieces that I like to go to every time, when styling a midi skirt.
The first of those are my espadrilles. If i’m being honest, I love these so much that I probably try to pair them with every single outfit I own, but they are the perfect match for a midi skirt or dress. They give the extra height needed to lengthen your legs and stop you from looking like a little stump wearing a tent and these ones specifically make me feel awfully ladylike because of the tie ankle detail.
The second thing I like to wear a lot with my midi skirts is a plain white or black t-shirt. I like to go for either a striped or floral skirt design so there’s usually a lot going on, on my bottom half. I’m not the bravest when it comes to clashing or matching prints and I like to keep things sleek, so a plain, black or white upper half fits with my personal style well.
Other than how i’ve styled my midi for this post, there are a few other pieces that are my favourites to style with a midi skirt.
For a more casual day I will always go for a pair of Superga’s. They are THE comfiest pair of shoes I own at the moment and make it easy to stay on trend in a cute little midi while running round doing the shopping or running errands.
A vest style, baggy crop also goes with the casj outfit vibe. I don’t know what it is about Summer, but I just love baggy, laid back outfits that I can throw on and I know won’t cling to my skin so my wardrobe is full of oversized t-shirts and tops at the moment.
The final thing I keep reaching for with a midi this season is my denim cropped jacket – or any cropped jacket for that matter. The last few weeks I haven’t needed to wear a jacket at all (praise the lord), however in an evening or when the weathers been a little cooler, a cropped jacket is IDEAL because it ends at the waist which is usually where the skirt will begin and is small enough to not take over the outfit too much and take attention away from the skirt.
This skirt is out of stock unfortunately but i’ll link another at the bottom of this post that I hope you’ll like.
Let me know if you’re loving the midi-skirt trend as much as I am and comment below what you like to style them with.
I love that skirt!!
