Hi my little loves. I don’t say this often enough, but I want to start this week by saying a huge thank you to all those of you who come back each week to read my posts. I’m really grateful that you continue to come back and hope that you’ll continue to do so for a long time. Also, a big hello to any new readers joining us this week!
My Birchbox posts are one of my favourites to write as I love sharing with you, the new products i’ve found and what i’m loving in each months box.
This months box was an absolute beauty from it’s design right through to it’s contents. I’ve received some lovely bits so let’s get stuck in shall we.
This months box was decorated in a beautiful Cath Kidston floral design, very spring like and very fitting with this months theme that is ‘Brighten Your Day’.
The partnership this month is in celebration of Cath Kidstons 25th birthday, so all products have specifically been chosen to bring a month of glowing skin and smiles to all Birchboxers.
In my box this month I received;
-ModelCo Baked Highlighter
-Beautaniq Beauty Fill & Tame Brow Gel
-Cath Kidston Hand Cream
-HASK Coconut Deep Conditioner
-Polaar IcePure Gentle Scrub
ModelCo Baked Highlighter RRP £24
I was rather excited to receive this sample, as I chose my shade part way through March then couldn’t wait for it to arrive. If you’ve read my beauty posts before, you’ll know that I usually prefer a liquid highlighter but I absolutely love this already. The colour is perfect for my skin tone, the colour pay off is great and it doesn’t look ‘powdery’ on your skin which is usually the reason I stay away from powder highlighters products.
I use a Zoeva brush to apply the highlighter which works fine, and it’s really build-able so you can easily add more based on the level of glow you’re going for on the day.
The only thing I would say, is the sample for this was absolutely TINY. I mean, the size of my thumb so it’s not going to last long, however I will probably end up paying the £24 to buy a full sized product because it is really good.
Beautaniq Beauty Fill & Tame Brow Gel RRP £8.60
I have used a Rimmel Bro Gel for about 3 years now and I faithfully go back to the same one every time it runs out, however recently i’ve found the brush to be a bit of an odd shape. This Beautaniq brow gel has the PERFECT size and shape brush, it tames the hairs perfectly and the gel is a good consistency.
I however, received the gel in the brunette colour which is a little to light for my brows as it’s a very light brown. I would definitely advise anyone with darker brown or black brows to go for the black shade.
Cath Kidston Hand Cream RRP £4
What can I say about this hand cream? It’s a lovely consistency, not too oily or thick and soaks into the skin really well, not leaving you with sticky hands. The fragrance is a gorgeous mix of floral and fruity scents and the packaging is equally beautiful. It’s just the perfect handbag addition.
HASK Coconut Deep Conditioner £2.49
I’ve not quite had chance to use this hair conditioner yet. Everything seems to have been very rushy the last couple of weeks and I like to use a hair mask when I can relax in the bath, rather than the shower – so fingers crossed, that’s the plan for this weekend!
Anyway, as I haven’t used it yet I’ve had a little read of some reviews on the Birchbox website and pretty much everyone who has received one of these seems to have loved it.
I’ve used coconut hair masks before and find them really nourishing and hydrating so I wouldn’t expect any less than that with this one. The price point makes this one an absolute bargain though in comparison to some other brands.
Polaar IcePure Gentle Scrub RRP £23.50
First off, this scrub contains tiny little exfoliating beads which I have forgotten how much I LOVE and hate at the same time! I love them because I love to feel like my cleanser is working hard and making a difference to my skin and the beads really help towards this, but I hate them because it takes forever and a day to make sure all the little beads are washed off your face after – ALWAYS end up finding a couple hidden away in my hairline or something part way through the day.
This has a really gentle formula so it’s great for sensitive skin, but the exfoliating beads add that extra touch to help smooth the skin. One of the stand-out ingredients – Arctic Cotton (apparently that’s a thing) is well known for its detoxifying properties. I love how my skin feels after using this so I would definitely recommend it if you have sensitive skin but are after a scrub/cleanser with that extra something.
