March Birchbox

Welcome back to another monthly Birchbox chat my lovelies. The theme of this months box was ‘Be Present Not Perfect’. It’s all about mindfulness and self-care and taking time out to relax. So Birchbox have chosen a selection of products with that ‘feel good’ theme in mind.

The products I received in this months box were;

Rituals The Ritual of Sakura Foaming Shower Gel (200ml)
Absolution Le Nettoyant Pureté
R + Co Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste
Benefit BADgal BANG! Volumising Mascara
BLAQ Mask

Up to now i’ve used 4 out of the 5 products and 3 of them i’m already planning to order again.

BLAQ Mask RRP £14
First up the BLAQ purifying mask. I’ve seen this product being used and advertised so many times but never picked one up. I think maybe because there was so much hype about the charcoal face masks and teeth whitening products I kind of just put it down to a fad and decided not to buy into any of it. Oh how wrong could I be?!
I am in LOVE with this mask, i’ve used it twice myself this week and even had it on my fiancés face this morning!

It’s a charcoal mask designed to draw out the toxins in your skin, specifically aimed at those pesky T-Zone areas and helping get rid of those horrendous black heads that just love to stick around. You use it by opening up your pores first with a warm cloth, apply to your T-Zone areas, leave for 10-15 minutes then peel off once dry. Like i say, i’ve used it twice this week and my skin is SO much better.

A word of warning though, do a patch test first as Dave struggled with his little sensitive skin and was left a little red faced and sore for a while afterwards – woops.

Rituals The Ritual of Sakura Foaming Shower Gel RRP £8.50
This product was pretty much always going to be a win for me. I love a foaming shower gel and I love any cherry blossom scented skincare.

It has a really good, thick, instant foam to it, so you don’t have to use too much and it’s really gentle on your skin. The scent is so luxurious and quite strong so it’s quite frankly a dream to use in your morning shower routine. Definitely one i’ll be buying again.

Absolution Le Nettoyant Pureté RRP £26
As you might have guessed, this product comes from a French brand and it’s a natural cleanser. With ingredients like lavender floral water and chamomile it’s a gentle way of removing make up and cleansing for more sensitive skin.

I would say it’s very, very gentle and probably too gentle for me. I’m used to using acid toners and I prefer a cleanser that I can see working more, like a foaming cleanser or a wax but i’ll be keeping it in my bathroom cupboard for when my skin needs a little break from the usual.

Benefit BADgal BANG! Volumising Mascara RRP £21.50
So if you don’t know about this new release from Benefit, are you ok hun?! No, but in all seriousness, where have you been? We all saw the huge, crazy PR trip where Benefit took a load of beauty bloggers to the Maldives all for the launch of their new mascara. Since then, i’ve been watching to see what reviews people had as in all honesty, i’ve never been a big fan of Benefit mascaras before. Controversial I know, but there’s just always been something about the ones I tried that I could not get along with. However, once I saw everyone was loving it and then found out we would be sent one in this months Birchbox, I couldn’t wait!

I’ve used this everyday since I got it and I really love it. Something I look for in a mascara is good volumising; this manages to do that, plus lengthen and separate all at the same time. It’s a really good solid black as well so I feel like my lashes have never looked better. I’d definitely recommend going out and grabbing one when you can.

R + Co Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste RRP £22
This is the one product from this months box that I haven’t tried out yet and I don’t actually know if I will. A dry shampoo paste just doesn’t sound right to me, i’m used to dry shampoo being a spray and to me that works, but I can’t see a paste having the same effect.

I think it may be a product for anyone with a very short hair style as I don’t think the consistency would be right for longer hair.

Again, I was pretty pleased with this months box. 4 out of the 5 products I can definitely use and 3 out of those 4 I am planning to buy again. Birchbox made some great choices this month and the products definitely make me feel good every time I use them.

Thanks for reading and i’ll see you all soon x
