Things I’ve Been Loving..May Edition

Hi Guys!

I’m back with another favourites post this week, purely focused on beauty and skincare bits I’ve been loving over the last month or so. There’s quite a number to get through so I’m going to jump right in…

First up are the Pixi Glow Tonic and Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser. Now I’ve been a lover of Clarins cleanser and toner for a long, long time and to be honest I’ve been reluctant to change because they suit my skin so much – however I do think sometimes it’s good to change up your skincare routine and add in some new products here and there. I had seen so many reviews on the Pixi products and been wanting to try them out for a while so with the transition into Summer, what better time than now.
I use the toner probably every other day and then the cleanser around twice a week but I absolutely LOVE them both. The glycolic acid in both works well for what my skin is lacking at the moment and the Glow Tonic is a great price in comparison to other acid toners on the market.

Next up, I’m talking base makeup – which at the moment is pretty much my day to day face.
I wear a primer every single day, regardless of whether it’s a work day, weekend, special occasion or anything else in between. I always, always use one as I find my make up not only goes onto the skin much better, but it also stays put for longer. I am a huge fan of the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer, but it’s a little bit pricey to be using every day so I found a more affordable product to use on a standard work day which is the NYX Studio Perfect Photo Loving Primer. It’s colourless, so not to be used for any colour correcting and is a gel like consistency which is exactly what I love in a primer (I don’t get on with the liquid forms at all). It smooths and blurs pores amazingly well and creates a good base for your make up.

I don’t know about anyone else, but one of my favourite things about summer is not having to wear foundation. As soon as my cheeks are the SLIGHT bit more tanned, I ditch the foundation for every day wear and try to use much lighter, and less products on my skin. At the moment, this NYX Wonder Stick has been doing wonders (heh heh) to my every day face. It’s a highlight and contour stick, so I have been using this to create definition – without a foundation base – adding a bit of bronzer and I’m good to go. The creamy consistency is perfect for blending so this is one product I would highly recommend if like me, you’re not a natural contouring queen.

One of my more recent beauty buys was this Rimmel Good to Glow Illuminating Highlight. I believe they do this in 3 shades and I went for ‘003 Soho Glow’ as this was the least pink and darker of the three. It’s easily patted in with fingertips and creates a beautiful illuminating look. I use this every day as it gives such a natural glow to the skin, but the texture and consistency of the liquid means it could be built up for a stronger evening look as well.

Lips

In my March monthly favourites post which you can read here, I raved about how much I have loved the NYX Matte Lip Cremes over the last few months. Well let me tell you, Loreal have kicked them off the top spot with their stunning new Matte Lip Paints.
The colours are stunning and the colour pay off is phenomenal, not to mention it stays put for hours so you don’t have to top up every time you have a sip of your drink. Again, as with the NYX Lip Creme, these don’t dry your lips out too much at all.

Thanks so much for reading, and let me know your reviews if you do try out any of the products I’ve mentioned. Xx
